Academic Experience

2020 - dato

2017-2020

Research Assistant Professor
Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Quantum Materials for Protected Superconducting Qubits : Developed a parity-protected superconducting qubit platform based on superconductor-semiconductor hybrid materials that is insensitive to both charge and flux noise. Developed a setup for entangling transmons with parity-protected superconducting qubits, enabling their potential use as a quantum memory.
  • Non-reciprocal superconductivity : Developed an all-electrically tunable supercurrent diode based on semiconductor-superconductor hybrid materials. Possible applications of this diode include the experimental calibration of protected superconducting qubit devices.
  • Ferromagnet-superconductor-semiconductor hybrids : Developed the theory for a supercurrent-reversal transition in ferromagnet-superconductor-semiconductor triple hybrid Josephson junctions in collaboration with experimentalists at the Niels Bohr Institute.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Advisors: Prof. Liang Fu, Prof. Jagadeesh S. Moodera)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Physics, USA
  • Majorana qubits in superconducting circuits : Developed a superconducting qubit platform that uses conventional superconducting circuits for operating a Majorana-based qubit. The required mechanism for qubit measurement and manipulation, a parity-dependent Josephson coupling, has recently been observed by experimental collaborators at TU Delft.
  • Transition metal dichalcogenide moiré materials : Investigated, with the help of analytical and numerical techniques, twisted transition metal dichalcogenides as Hubbard model quantum simulators for realizing correlated insulators and unconventional superconductors.

Education

2013-2017

2011-2013

2008-2011

Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics (Advisor: Prof. Daniel Loss)
University of Basel, Basel, Switzerland
Thesis: "Majorana bound states in topological insulators and nanowires"
  • Spin qubits : Developed a scalable quantum computing platform that couples spin qubits and singlet-triplet qubits to Majorana qubits, thereby enabling universal quantum computation.
  • Topological superconductivity : Proposed platforms for topological superconductivity at ultra-low and zero magnetic fields. The setups avoid the detrimental effects of large magnetic fields on superconductivity, a major issue in topological qubit candidate platforms.

Master of Science in Physics (Advisor: Prof. Claudio Chamon, Prof. Manfred Sigrist)
ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland
Thesis: "Riemannian Geometry and Statistical Physics"

Bachelor of Science in Physics
ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland
